The purpose of this page is to introduce the “GENTLEMEN” of Family Affair Standards , the human and canine varieties.

Just like our name implies this is a “FAMILY AFFAIR”

                   Below is a written introduction of our canine GENTLEMEN. You can also view slide shows, testing results, and pedigree information on the Standard Poodle GENTLEMEN of Family Affair.  In addition we have posted the color and approximate weight and height of each of our canine GENTLEMEN at Family Affair Standard Poodles. 

    After the canine introduction, you will be introduced to the human variety of GENTLEMEN, here at Family Affair Standard Poodles. You can see slide shows of the hard working MEN here at Family Affair Standards. You will know each one of them by name.
    We have carefully chosen the canine GENTLEMEN of Family Affair Standard Poodles. Everything is a priority in the process of selecting our GENTLEMEN, especially health and temperament history. We have concentrated on conformation also. We offer the more dainty fine-lined show type standard poodle puppies as well as the heavier boned, stocky-built, hunting/retriever lines. We use our Gentlemen at Family Affair Standard Poodles to combine these two conformation types and are able to produce a great all-round standard poodle puppy for your next family member. We have the ability with our canine Gentlemen, to produce every color available in the breed of Standard Poodles. This list includes white standard poodles, cream standard poodles, apricot standard poodles, and the red standard poodle. We offer the striking colors of jet black standard poodles, blue standard poodles, grey standard poodles, and silver standard poodles. In the brown family we have true deep brown standard poodles as well as the café au lait standard poodle and the gorgeous silver beige standard poodle. We have recently added, after lots of research and prayer, the ability to produce the very controversial colors of phantom standard poodles and parti standard poodles. We are trying to concentrate on the diversity of these colors by crossing our solid Gentlemen with our parti and phantom Ladies or vice versa. In the selection of our Standard Poodle Gentlemen of the color variety we are striving to improve the health and conformation. Although these colors are allowed to be registered with the American Kennel Club, our dream is to have these colors accepted on a higher level with AKC as a color variety in the show ring, just as in the cocker spaniels and other breeds of color. When you call or visit FAMILY AFFAIR STANDARD POODLES you will almost always talk to or meet my mom, Cindy, my sister, Holley, or me, Wendy. The three of us are the out-front people, but we have three amazing GENTLEMEN who are the backbone of FAMILY AFFAIR STANDARDS. You may or may not meet or talk to these three GENTLEMEN on a visit or a call to FAMILY AFFAIR STANDARD POODLES. I can assure you without these three GENTLEMEN, we would not have a FAMILY AFFAIR STANDARD POODLE business. They do all the repairs, building, and renovations to our property and facility. They put up with us and our all night puppy deliveries. They will call home and ask “What is for super?” The silence, chuckle or distressful sigh on the other end lets them know they are on their own for supper or either wait till midnight to eat. They deal with cancelled plans because of puppy buyers calling at the last minute because they are so excited and can’t wait to come and visit our facility. MOST of the time our GENTLEMEN do all of this in stride and sometime even with a smile. Their moral support is not something we LADIES take for granted.

Blake, as you probably have already read, is the love of my life. Without a doubt you could say he is my favorite GENTLEMAN here at FAMILY AFFAIR STANDARD POODLES. Many times my health issues have made it difficult for me to keep up with our home and all the responsibility of FAMILY AFFAIR STANDARD POODLES. Blake is always cleaning, cooking and washing clothes when I am unable too. Even when I am able he is right by my side helping. He never ceases to amaze me when it comes to his gentle, tender heart toward a newborn puppy struggling to live or a mama while she is delivering her puppies. Between my mama, Holley, Darlene and me, we work one weekend out of each month. Blake is always there to help me. He feeds, waters, scoops poop, cleans whelping boxes and even grooms. Unlike Brian and my daddy, Blake was raised in the city. I am sure as a young man he never dreamed he would be spending weekends, away from his full time job in aviation, putting up fences or grooming a Standard Poodle. He has hung right in there and learned a lot from daddy and Brian. He has not only just hung in there he loves a lot of things about his new mini-farm life and caring for our Standard Poodles. My daddy and Brian are out spoken and a little loud sometime. They are very driven and sometime forget to slow down and enjoy life. Blake is a very soft spoken, quiet, mellow blessing in my life. Simple things we do together bring certain tranquility to my life that I have come to treasure. I cannot imagine loving any one more and I thank God everyday for blessing me with a husband like Blake.     

 The leader of the GENTLEMAN here at FAMILY AFFAIR STANDARD POODLES is my daddy, David. He is a builder by trade so his expertise in the construction of our facility has been irreplaceable. His hands have touched every fence post, shingle, nail and painted wall on the property. My daddy has always loved babies of any kind and the puppies are no exception. Quite often we find him holding a newborn or talking to an older puppy while giving them a pat on the head across the fence. He also has a soft spot in his heart for our grown canine LADIES and GENTLEMEN. He occasionally shares the bed with Noel, his and mama’s red Standard Poodle. The eleven plus rolling acres, called Arrowhead Acres, located in Spring Hope North Carolina is a long awaited dream come true for my mama and daddy. They have agreed to let their dream be the permanent home for FAMILY AFFAIR STANDARD POODLES. By doing this it will help Holley’s family and mine by making our dreams come true. Blake and I also hope that in the near future we can make Arrowhead Acres our permanent home place.

The last but not the least of the three gentlemen is my brother-in-law Brian. We can always count on him to help when there is manual labor to be done. He will work long, late hours until a job is complete, unless of course he is granted a “hall pass” to ride his Harley. Brian reminds Holley on a regular basis that these are her Standard Poodles and he is only around to help but we know better. He loves the puppies too! He and my daddy will sometimes disappear leaving us to tend to the canine members of our family. In a while they will walk out on the back porch and yell, letting us know that dinner is ready. We make our way to the house and walk into a meal of grilled chicken, steak or ribs with all the fixings.  

One thing that all three of the GENTLEMEN mentioned above bring to this FAMILY AFFAIR is a sense of humor and laughter. You can count on any one of the three to make you smile. Of course they are men we are women and they will make us cry from time to time. The LADIES here at FAMILY AFFAIR STANDARD POODLES love these three GENTLEMEN with all our hearts and feel very blessed to have them as our partners in life.  

I would also like to introduce you to a couple of young GENTLEMEN here at FAMILY AFFAIR STANDARD POODLES who are dear to my heart. My little brother Luke and nephew Scott are always lending a helping hand. They love working with their daddies. They are like little men taking all the responsibilities assigned to them quite seriously. They help socialize puppies and enjoy the company of our older canine LADIES and GENTLEMEN. Scott and Luke both got shot guns for Christmas last year in hopes that they will help with the possibility of training some of our FAMILY AFFAIR STANDARD POODLES for retriever trials. They both love to hunt with my daddy. We never know what they will be into next. They are their daddies’ sons’ right down to the core.  These two little GENTLEMEN add spice and adventure to our lives and just like their older counter parts, they make us laugh.
